Travelling
wave tube amplifiers and solid state instrumentation amplifiers
TWTAs and Solid State
Instrumentation Amplifiers
Developing alongside the
rugged amplifiers for radar has been a range of commercial microwave
amplifiers, using TWTs, or solid state technology for such applications
as EMC and RF testing, radar simulation and calibration, jamming,
satellite communications, Passive Intermodulation Testing (PIM)
for space components, scientific experimentation and medical LINACs.
Exceptional reliability
comes as standard
These products are based
on the same switched mode power supply technology as the rugged
amplifiers with all the advantages of performance and reliability,
but have been re-packaged, for less demanding physical environments
into compact, lightweight and affordable rack-mountable units, typically
at 4U or 3U high.
A set of standard amplifiers
covers the range between 1-40 GHz in both pulsed and CW versions.
In addition, special products can be designed to customers' specific
requirements. TMD has produced many unusual and innovative products
for a variety of markets, which have been unobtainable elsewhere.
Fast and efficient repair service
We have gained a reputation
for fast and efficient repair of amplifiers - not necessarily of
our own manufacture! Often repairs are carried out at customers'
premises at very short notice and in this respect our close proximity
to Heathrow airport is helpful for our overseas customers.
A few years ago, scientists
from CERN, working on a high profile particle anti-matter experiment,
in collaboration with the Riken Laboratories in Japan, urgently
required a high power amplifier at short notice. They contacted
TMD for help, and our staff worked around the clock to produce a
suitable unit. The customer was very grateful that they had avoided
the expense and embarrassment of losing their allocated time slot.
High Power Solid State
Amplifiers
TMD has particularly specialised in the development
of a number of of Class C (high power, narrow band) solid state
amplifiers covering the frequency range L-X band for radar, IFF,
UAV and medical and scientific applications. Options include phase
control, pulsed or CW units.
