TMD launches Brand New intelligent modular, high power TWT instrumentation amplifiers at EMC 2016 – showcased for the first time at any exhibition anywhere!
TMD Technologies Limited (TMD) has chosen EMC 2016, Booth 524 to launch its NEW PTCM Series intelligent, modular travelling wave tube (TWT) RF instrumentation amplifiers. Operating over the range DC-40 GHz with powers up to 50 kW, these new compact and affordable rack-mounted amplifiers deliver the highest field strengths in the test environment, and meet the most demanding worldwide standards.
Advanced intelligent and modular design elevates user interface and maintainability to higher standards!
Offering superior user interface and maintainability, the PTCM Series intelligent, versatile high power TWT amplifiers are ideal for applications including EMC/radiated immunity, communications, EW, radar, RF component testing and the scientific field.
New PTCM Series – enhanced capability with a host of operational benefits Continuing TMD’s long tradition of designing and manufacturing top performance, ultra- reliable and easy to maintain amplifiers, the new PTCM Series now features built-in self-test; advanced fault diagnostics; modular, plug and play field replaceable PCBs; and Ethernet remote control and monitoring. Thus should a fault occur, the amplifier will itself identify the source of the problem – allowing a field engineer to very quickly get it back up and running.
High intelligence – and the most powerful TMD control system to date!
A truly state of the art ‘system on chip’ (SOC) microcircuit provides the high intelligence in the PTCM Series. It not only controls and synchronises all the power conversion circuitry in real time, but also provides the intelligence for all the monitoring, control, data logging and user interface functionality.
Furthermore, the digital control PCB that contains the SOC microcircuit represents the heart and brains of the amplifier and has the distinction of being the most powerful control system developed by TMD to date!
In addition, the amplifier will log all operational hours and any tripped states – greatly aiding diagnostics and assessing, if required, when the unit may be near the end of its long life and due for replacement.
A standard – but customisable – 6U height chassis and ‘soft’ re-configurable control system enables a number of options. For example, the PTCM modular system allows high power dual TWT amplifiers at 12 U high to be easily and quickly configured.
Ultra reliability and excellent thermal management
The PTCM architecture is based on TMD’s well proven ultra-reliable military power supplies. The use of TMD’s state of the art cooling system means that TWT heat is spread over a large area – reducing peak temperatures and significantly improving MTBF. Also featured is VSWR reflected power protection.
The new PTCM Series is designed to Military Standard 810G Transport, and operates over the temperature range 0°C to +40°C. Dimensions are 19 inch front panel, 6U height,
800 mm width, with a weight of 47 kg.
