Abstract: This paper covers an approach to the design of High Voltage Power Supply Units for operating Travelling Wave Tube Amplifiers in Pulse Doppler Radar Transmitter Sub‐Systems where ultra low noise RF Output is mandatory.
Currently, electron beams are produced by heating a filament to the point where electrons have enough energy to overcome the work function. In field emission, the potential barrier is lowered by the strength of the applied field only.
Travelling wave tubes are vacuum devices with electron beams that couple to a microwave frequency electromagnetic signal (loosely termed ‘r.f.’ in the trade) propagating in the direction of the beam. Energy is transferred to the microwave signal, and the device generally behaves as an amplifier.
TMD Technologies Ltd (TMD), was delighted to welcome local MP and Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell to its premises in Hayes on 27 July 2016, to discuss the company’s new product innovations to boost local employment and overseas trade.
TMD Technologies has been working in partnership with LIG Nex1 on a range of defence development and production programmes for more than 10 years. The contract signed on the 13th July covers supply of Travelling Wave Tubes from TMD to LIG Nex1. A Travelling Wave Tube (TWT) is a specialized vacuum tube that is used in electronics to amplify radio frequency (RF) signals in the microwave range. These will be incorporated into the Korean company’s missile programme. The contract has a value of £5 million.
TMD Technologies Limited (TMD) has chosen EMC 2016, Booth 524 to launch its NEW PTCM Series intelligent, modular travelling wave tube (TWT) RF instrumentation amplifiers. Operating over the range DC-40 GHz with powers up to 50 kW, these new compact and affordable rack-mounted amplifiers deliver the highest field strengths in the test environment, and meet the most demanding worldwide standards.
At Farnborough International Airshow 2016, TMD Technologies Limited (TMD), a specialist West London based SME in the microwave and RF field, will be introducing a new line of Ka band, compact microwave power modules (MPMs) to its TWT based range.
Andy Crawford has been promoted to the newly created position of Head of After Sales and Support Worldwide. In his new role Andy reports directly to TMD’s new Sales and Business Development Director, Jane McAlister, and will be focusing on all aspects of further improving and enhancing TMD’s post order customer service.
TMD Technologies Limited (TMD), an independent manufacturing SME in the microwave and RF field, has appointed Jane McAlister to the executive board as Sales and Business Development Director. In her new key position she will be responsible for leading and guiding TMD’s sales and business development teams in all aspects of their operations, to further increase the company’s on-going growth.
